The Lacemarket

Several years ago I created this photoblog as a backup while my long term blog, at photoblog.com was undergoing some technical issues beyond my control. Once they were fixed I put this blog into hibernation, assuming I’d have no further need for it. Sadly Photoblog is once again suffering problems, so here we are again, back out of hibernation!

My first post here in nearly four years comes from a day I spent in Nottingham, where I had the opportunity to see one of my pinhole photos on display in an exhibition at The Carousel. I’ll share my pinhole photos from there shortly, but naturally I also took a digital camera along for the ride and these two monochrome images come from that. Bright sunny days are perfect for black and white, with strong contrasts between light and shade. These were taken around the Lacemarket area of the City, once the heart of the Nottingham lacemaking industry. These days the buildings have been put to different uses, but the architecture retains its timeless quality.
