When work took me to the Cotswolds back in July I decided it was time to make a return visit to Chastleton House. I gave a concert there many years ago, but never had an opportunity at the time to explore with my camera. This time I chose to take a small camera body and a 50mm equivalent lens to make me look for scenes which would suit this combination.
The light was beautiful that day and I found my photos tended to fall into two categories - small scenes, showing the life of the house, and those capturing the play of light on the house and its contents.
A selection of small scenes from around Chastleton House, capturing life as it was there before the National Trust took it into their care - a house frozen in time.
There were so many beautiful corners around the windows.
One of the rooms had this beautiful plasterwork on the ceiling.
In the bedroom use by the last owner of Chastleton House. She had many cats and the saucer of milk left for them to drink from has left a permanent mark on the floor.
Finally, a few frames from the basement - some fascinating details and one of the longest ladders I’ve ever seen!
